Cherry Blossoms In Bloom

There’s a reason cherry blossom season at Ault Park is a fan favorite—and this session is proof of just how magical it can be.

Despite the crowds that flood the park every year for those pink blooms, we were able to steal away into a quiet little nook I’d scouted ahead of time. That’s one of my favorite parts of being a photographer—knowing how to find those hidden gems that make it feel like you have the place all to yourself, even when the park is buzzing.

This sweet family showed up with the perfect styling to complement the soft, romantic feel of the blossoms. They chose a mix of dusty blues and neutrals in a casual-chic style that felt elevated but not stiff—exactly the vibe I recommend when you want your photos to feel timeless and wall-worthy. Coordinating outfits with your environment might seem small, but it really does make a huge difference in how your final images come together.

And let me tell you—this little guy brought the energy! One thing I always keep in my back pocket during family sessions is a set of simple, playful prompts to help kids let loose and have fun. For younger kiddos, I’ll often ask them to start a mini dance party or run full-speed into their parents for the biggest hug ever (I always say I have a secret to tell them… and the secret is hugs). It gets those wiggles out and results in the sweetest, most authentic moments.

This session was a beautiful blend of movement, connection, and that once-a-year cherry blossom magic. If you're thinking about a spring family session, my biggest advice is this: don’t stress about perfection. Show up ready to play, dress with intention (but comfort!), and trust that I’ll guide you through the rest.
